‘I like to make a difference’

THREE RIVERS — “Don’t let what you cannot do interfere with what you can do,” former college basketball coach John Wooden said.
John Bippus, a trustee on the Glen Oaks Community College (GOCC) Board, a St. Joseph County Road Commissioner, a board member of the Michigan Guardianship Association, and treasurer of the Three Rivers Lions Club, attributes his success as a businessman and active member of the community to Wooden’s sentiment.
Bippus is the president of BippusUSA, an auction and real estate company, he founded John Bippus Charities, he wrote and compiled his book, “The Secret of Your Success,” and continues to play a vital role in many community projects.
In the past, Bippus served as a St. Joseph County Commissioner for 13 years and at one point, as chair. He said, “after 13 years, you do a lot of stuff,” including sitting on several committees and boards; he is also a former three-term Three Rivers City Commissioner and Mayor pro tem.
“I like to make a difference. If everybody contributed some part of their talent to making things better then things will really get better in a hurry. So I contribute my talent as much as I can,” Bippus said.
