To the citizens of St. Joseph County

To the editor:

This letter is written in support of the Glen Oaks Community College millage request.
I cannot recall any time that the college has not been cooperative and helpful in its approach to the St. Joseph County high schools.  I do believe that Glen Oaks has grown and improved under its current administration, and so has its continued support for our community and over 500 high school students.
I also understand there are more demands than ever before for making our students more employable…whether this is the last leg of their journey or toward transferring to higher education…we consistently hear from employers that we are an important step in the process of producing great workers.  Our students deserve a first-class education and the employers of this county deserve well-qualified employees.
I believe the small increase in yearly tax (.5 mills = $2.08 per $100,000) is an investment for our county and will provide large gains for many more years down the road for all citizens in St. Joseph county.
I urge you to support giving residents of St. Joseph County a great education and opportunities that make them valued additions to the workforce. Vote “YES” on the GOCC mileage.
