Fifty years ago?
To the editor:
On May 5, 2018 Glen Oaks Community College Nursing Pinning and Hall of Fame induction ceremony was a heart touching event. Recognizing the 28 LPN graduates, and 21 RN grads, along with four Hall of Famers, which included Renee Kessler, Phyllis Kesslar, Christine Oswald and myself. There were 14 grads in the 1968 class. Joan Goette was the Director of Nursing, and Lois Munson, RN instructor. June DeLong and Barbara Timby were also recognized.
It was nice Dr. Robertson was recognized. He took time out of his practice to come to the special ceremony. I’m sure the graduates were happy to see him. Who knows, perhaps he took care of some of them in his pediatric practice in Sturgis.
I might mention that I still maintain my RN license through continued education. I worked too hard for it to let it slip away.
Bill Lederman DON, Professor of Nursing, did an extra ordinary job with the program. I worked with Bill at Sturgis Hospital. I was the House Supervisor on the 11 p.m. — 7 a.m. shift. Bill climbed the ladder and has done a fantastic job in his Nursing career. I’m proud of him. He has touched many lives, including mine.
So where has this 50 years gone? We continue to form our chapters in our book of life. I’m sure you too are working on your chapters. I wish you all Love, Happiness and Success in your book.
Thank you Glen Oaks
