In support of GOCC millage
To the editor:
I am writing this letter in support of the upcoming millage vote for Glen Oaks Community College to be held Nov. 6, 2018. Both of my daughter attended GOCC on a volleyball scholarship and Pell grant. Also both daughters were the night receptionists at the college. My first daughter graduated and got accepted to MSU. When it came time for my second daughter to apply to MSU she was denied entrance. Both her father and I were legacy’s but still we couldn’t get MSU to change their minds. Enter Dick Cripe, the GOCC counselor. He said, “Let me see what I can do.” Never in a million years did I think this college counselor (from our small college) could do what her parents couldn’t. I can still remember we were on vacation at Lake Michigan, the first week of August, and Dick called and said, “She’s IN!!!” Dick, your recommendation was well placed, as this woman is now the North American Sales Manager for Peter Greven. This is just an example of how the teachers and staff at GOCC go the extra mile for their students.
With the arrival of our current president Dr. DeVier, Glen Oaks Community College has built a new dorm, is replacing the outdated concourse, and has momentum for future success. Please help us as we move forward.
