GOCC Board discusses updated Capital Outlay plan for school renovations
CENTREVILLE — The Glen Oaks Community College Board of Trustees Wednesday discussed the updated Capital Outlay Plan that was recently submitted to the state for the renovation of the college’s concourse, library and art studio.
Architect Eduardo Blanc of TMP Architecture gave a presentation of the facility assessment and feasibility study conducted for the project, which has an estimated cost of $3.2 million.
The original Capital Outlay plan was submitted over a year ago and the college hopes the project will be funded in the next funding cycle, which could take another year. Capital Outlay funding would cover half of the costs for the project, with GOCC being responsible for the other half.
President David Devier said GOCC could pay for its half of the project with a USDA loan, fundraising, money from the general fund or some combination of the three.
The Board will revisit the topic in December to approve a formal proposal to move the project forward and explore backup funding options.
