GOCC receives bids for student housing project
CENTREVILLE — Glen Oaks Community College received five bids Friday for its student housing project, with bids ranging from $5,149,535 to $5,841,330.
The residence hall, which will be GOCC’s first on-campus dormitory, has a $6.5 million budget and is slated to house 108 beds.
GOCC President David Devier said he was “very pleased” with the bidding process, as all five bids were competitive. He said a number of factors would come into play when selecting the winning bid.
“It isn’t always the lowest bid, it can be other things, there were two really close ones, so it may come down to who can do it quickest and all of that stuff but we’re very pleased and we’re pleased the USDA is here,” Devier said.
The college will now go into a process of review and once a bid is selected, the GOCC Board of Trustees’ approval will be sought before officially awarding the bid.
