Teen arrested after Schoolcraft threat

SCHOOLCRAFT — The Schoolcraft Police Department received a report on Saturday, Oct. 8 at about 5 p.m. from administrative staff with the Schoolcraft Community Schools. The school had been contacted about an Instagram posting which implied violence was going to occur at a school although no specific school system was identified. Following an investigation a 14-year-old Schoolcraft boy was identified, arrested and transported to the Kalamazoo County Juvenile home. The case has been forwarded to the prosecutor’s office for review. The juvenile has been arrested for using terrorist threats, a 20-year felony.
The Police Department believes the juvenile acted alone in placing the post to Instagram. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Schoolcraft Police Department at 679-5600 or Silent Observer at 269-343-2100.
