TRACF donates $1,000 to Domestic And Sexual Abuse Services
THREE RIVERS — The Three Rivers Area Community Foundation has donated $1,000 to Domestic And Sexual Abuse Services (DASAS) to support the agency's Healthy Relationships Prevention Education Program. This program offers four-day seminars, parent/caregiver awareness, and Teen Dating Violence Awareness activities in St. Joseph and Cass County middle and high schools.
DASAS recognizes that reaching youth will decrease the likelihood of both victimization and perpetration and will increase the opportunities to intervene when violence is present in homes and in youth peer relationships. The program aims to increase students’ knowledge of domestic and sexual violence dynamics, (definition, power and control, Michigan law, myths, and local resources), address personal attitudes, and increase knowledge of how to help others affected by domestic or sexual violence.
It is through the generous donations of community members and grant opportunities from local foundations such as the Three Rivers Area Community Foundation that DASAS is able to continue its work to end domestic and sexual violence in our community.
