Mendon notches first victory with 57-38 win over WP

MENDON — Mendon’s boys’ basketball team picked up its initial win of the season with a 57-38 victory at home over White Pigeon Friday.
Mendon, now 1-3 overall, jumped out to a 17-11 lead after one quarter, expanded its lead to 32-19 entering halftime and to 42-29 after three periods.
Hunter paced Mendon scorers with 12 points. Keaton Crotser added 11, Lukas Crotser nine and Gabe Parks seven for the Hornets, who shot 22-of-45 (48.9 percent) from the floor and 9-of-15 at the foul stripe.
Lovell also had five rebounds and two steals. Keaton Crotser had nine boards, seven assists and three steals.
Kam Garten scored 14 for White Pigeon, now 0-4. Zane Shoppell scored 10 points and Austin Yoder finished with seven for the Chiefs, who made 16 field goals and 4-of-8 free-throw attempts.

Kalamazoo Hackett 73, Constantine 53
CONSTANTINE — Constantine’s boys’ basketball team dropped a 73-53 SAC game with visiting Kalamazoo Hackett Catholic Prep.
The Falcons trailed their guests 34-24 entering halftime and were outscored 39-29 in the second half.
