Centreville girls third at MITCA Team State Championships
MANTON — The Centreville girls’ track and field team competed in Saturday’s MITCA Division 4 team state championships in Manton.
Pittsford won the meet with 1,117 points. Manton placed second with 1042 1/2 followed by Centreville (916 1/2), Sand Creek (852 1/2), Hudson (794) and Marcellus placed sixth (738 1/2).
The field consisted of a total of 11 teams. To qualify a team must win their Michigan High School Athletic Association regional meet.
The meet is unique because every athlete from each school participating scores points for their respective team.
In the 100-meter dash, Hannah Marchand of Centreville placed fourth (13.42) and Marcellus’ Brianna Knapp took 22nd, (14.13).
Knapp finished seventh in the 200 (29.03) and Centreville’s Kayla Jepsen took ninth (29.06).
In the 400, Marcellus’ Johanna Jaeger claimed fifth (1:04.27) and Centreville’s Cayla Ferrier finished ninth (1:06.38).
Amy Steinkraus from Marcellus earned eighth (2:41.01) in the 800 and Centreville’s Asia Pratel took 14th (2:47.92).
Emma Pachay of Marcellus claimed fourth in the 1600 (5:49.13) and Pratel earned 10th (6:13.89).
Pachay finished eighth (13:52.05) in the 3200 and Pratel was ninth (13:57.48).
