Defense leads Centreville past Mendon girls

CENTREVILLE — The Centreville girls’ basketball team picked up its third consecutive win after upending Mendon 34-22 Friday at home.
Jill Peterson’s Lady Bulldogs are now 3-1 overall and 2-0 in the BCS Blue Division.
“Tonight we showed we can grind it out and play tough even when shots aren’t falling. We’ve proven our defense and rebounding can be consistent when our offense hasn’t quite found its groove,” Peterson said.
“I’m proud of our girls in the effort and attitude they are bringing to the court each day, and get more and more excited for the season ahead with this team.”
Centreville finished the game shooting just 13-of-56 from the floor, including 5-of-32 in the first half.
