Eighth grade hoopsters suffer loss; seventh graders triumph

THREE RIVERS — The Three Rivers eighth-grade A girls’ basketball team lost its first game of the season Monday at home 20-19 to Plainwell.
Kali Heivilin led the Lady Cats, now 6-1, with eight points. Natalie Barnes added five points, Clariana Thomas and Maddie Awe each scored two points, while Ellana Haifley and Alivia Knapp scored one point each.
Three Rivers’ seventh-grade A and B teams were both victorious at Plainwell.
The Wildcats won the seventh-grade A game 24-10 to improve to 6-1 overall.
Anna Anthony, Makenna Cupp and Lydia Jepsen all scored six points each for the Lady Cats.
Three Rivers defeated Plainwell 18-13 in the seventh-grade B game. The Lady Cats are now 2-2.
Ava Glass and Caleigh Barth led Three Rivers with six points each. Desiree Homan, Marissa Herremans and Kayla Watrous all scored two points each for Three Rivers.
Three Rivers hosts Otsego’s eighth-grade teams Wednesday, while the Lady Cats’ seventh graders are on the road against the same opponent.
