Falcons’ Kinney earns second trip to state meet
BUCHANAN — The Three Rivers boys’ cross country team finished 10th in Saturday’s Division 2 regional at RedBud Motocross Park in Buchanan.
Alex Schmidtendorff’s Wildcats finished with a score of 290. Coldwater won the meet with 40 points.
Shuaib Aljabaly of Coldwater was the boys’ overall winner in 15:56.60.
Three Rivers’ top runner on the day was Jon Scare who finished 36th in 18:29.
Also figuring in the scoring for the Wildcats were Cole Appoloni (58th, 19:19), Davis Dickerson (61st, 19:22), Nate Adams (65th, 19:24) and Colby Hasse (70th, 19:43).
Also competing for the Cats were Alec Robinson (92nd, 21:38) and Logan Borst (94th, 22:02).
Constantine’s boys finished fifth in the Division 3 regional held at the same location.
Tim McGlothlen’s Falcons totaled 151 points. Saugatuck, with 22, was regional champion. Schoolcraft (176) finished eighth.
Brian Njuguna of Bridgman was the overall boys’ winner in 16:10.6.
Constantine senior Tim Kinney was the Falcons’ only runner to qualify for the finals.
Kinney, who also qualified his junior year, finished 11th with a time of 17:55.1.
Also figuring in the Falcons’ scoring were Sam Warren (23rd, 18:49.3), Jake Locker (32nd, 19:09.6), Jack Jones (38th, 19:20) and Joe Shoup (49th, 19:58.6).
Also running for Constantine were Jackson Harris (57th, 20:30.8) and Jacob Dehaven (72nd, 21:06.3).
St. Joseph won the girls’ meet with 70 points. Three Rivers finished 11th with 264.
