Hornets explosive at plate, inexperienced on the mound
MENDON — Glen Samson, the dean of area high school baseball coaches, enters his 27th season at Mendon with a young and inexperienced pitching staff.
But that won’t change the goals the Hornets have set for the 2017 campaign.
“We have the same three goals every season,” said Mendon’s head coach, who carries a career coaching record of 403-256 into this season.
The first goal is to finish the regular season over .500. Secondly, capture a BCS Division title. Lastly, win the district tournament.
Mendon fell short in attaining two of those three goals last spring. The Hornets finished 19-10 overall, including a 4-6 mark in the BCS League.
