Lady Cats finish 17th in state meet
BATTLE CREEK — It’s an experience that can only help the Three Rivers girls’ golf team in future seasons.
The Lady Cats maintained their 17th place finish in Saturday’s final round of the Michigan High School Athletic Association Division 3 state finals at Bedford Valley Golf Course.
On the second day of the two-day event, Three Rivers shot a team score of 423 for the final 18 holes. With its score of 426 in Friday’s opening round the Lady Cats finished with a 36-hole score of 849.
“This was not the finish we were looking for, but I thought the girls had a great attitude going into the tournament,” said Three Rivers coach Bob Bales. “I think they were putting extra pressure on themselves to play well.
“I am sure our returning players (Erin Taylor, Heidi Hines, Sara Haydon and Maddie Reus) have gained valuable experience for the future and I know the experience of the state finals will motivate them to want to return.”
