Orzol named second-team All-Wolverine Conference in volleyball
THREE RIVERS — Senior Hannah Orzol of Three Rivers has been selected to the second-team All-Wolverine Conference volleyball team for the 2016 season.
“Hannah played consistently all season long,” said Three Rivers head coach Erik Kore. “We could count on her to come up with blocks in important situations. She had the ability to put balls on the floor as an attacker and could hit with power and influence a match.
“With the season in the books, it’s a good time to look ahead. We have seven returning players next year, all who saw significant playing time. That’s a good foundation upon which to build a team. Hannah’s absence means we need to develop another middle, if not two. We also lose senior setter Darian Cole, so there’s another slot that needs to be filled. Of course, more outside hitters are always needed, and every team can use a talented defensive specialist.
“Our team has steadily improved in two years and our goal is to continue that trend.”
Three Rivers’ GPA qualified them for the Michigan Interscholastic Volleyball Coaches Association All-Academic Award.
To be eligible for this award a team must have a combined GPA of 3.30 or better.
Darian Cole, Libby Judsen, Morgan Schneider, Abby Springer and Zoey Willson of Three Rivers have qualified for the MIVCA individual all-academic award (3.70 or better cumulative). Their paperwork has been submitted and the results of that will come at a later date.
