Comets take down Eagles in OT

BANGOR — Schoolcraft’s basketball team got outscored 12-6 in overtime and dropped a 53-47 Class C regional game to Kalamazoo Christian Monday at Bangor.
Kalamazoo Christian (17-7) moves on to face Quincy (19-4) in Thursday’s regional championship at 7 p.m.
Schoolcraft (22-2) trailed Kalamazoo Christian 13-11 after the opening eight minutes. The Comets took a two-point 25-23 lead into halftime. Schoolcraft came back to lead 31-30 entering the final eight minutes of regulation. The game ended tied 41-41 forcing an extra session.
Caleb Eustice had 16 points for Schoolcraft. Jason Feddema and Max Kulczyk scored nine points each for the Eagles, who were  7-of-15 at the free-throw line.
Kalamazoo Christian was led in scoring by Alex Visser with Drew Scheffers adding 12 for the Comets, who made 11-of-14 free-throw attempts.
“We held a six-point lead with a little over 1:30 left in regulation and couldn’t put the game away,” said Schoolcraft coach Randy Small.  
“We just didn’t get a lot of the loose balls we should have. We certainly had our chances. This one was tough. We lose eight seniors off this team. They were a good group of kids. I really enjoyed working with them these past four months.”

Bellevue 64, Marcellus 49
BELLEVUE — Host Bellevue handed Marcellus a 64-49 Class D regional basketball loss Monday.
Bellevue faces Benton Harbor Dream Academy in the finals Thursday.
