TR freshmen football victorious
THREE RIVERS — Three Rivers’ freshman football team defeated Paw Paw 28-22 Thursday at Armstrong Field.
Three Rivers led Paw Paw 14-8 after the first half.
Aiden Gidley completed a 74-yard touchdown pass to Jeremy Andrews and tossed a conversion pass to Isaiah Moore for Three Rivers’ score in the first quarter.
Gidley added a one-yard scoring run in the second period.
Andrews added a three-yard score in the third and Gidley ran in the conversion, putting ‘Cats up 22-16 after three quarters.
Andrews added another three-yard TD burst in the fourth quarter. Gidley’s conversion run failed.
Paw Paw’s Will Marshall scored on runs of two and 53 yards, and Kolby Hindenach added a seven-yard TD dash. Conner Hindenach added a conversion run for the visitors.
Paw Paw outgained Three Rivers 247-243 in total offense, including a 140-73 edge on the ground.
Gidley, however, completed 14-of-20 passing attempts for 170 yards and two TDs.
Andrews was the ‘Cats top rusher with 15 carries for 81 yards and he also caught four passes for 97 yards. Sam Myers had seven catches for 27 yards.
Andrews added five tackles on defense. Bryce Tucker, Riley Mark, and Ryan Nowicki all added three stops apiece for the ‘Cats.
Nowicki and Myers each had one interception for Three Rivers.
