Vikings’ late lead evaporates
CENTREVILLE — The Glen Oaks Community College men’s basketball team fell at home Wednesday 75-70 to the Olivet College JV squad.
David Victor’s Vikings, now 0-2 overall, held a late lead in the final minute but turnovers allowed Olivet to record the come-back win.
Glen Oaks held a 35-34 halftime lead, but was outscored in the second half by Olivet 41-35.
Damarquay Norman, a Kalamazoo Loy Norrix graduate, poured in a game-high 28 points for Olivet College.
Norman also pulled down 15 rebounds, including 11 on the offensive end, to go with a pair of steals.
Kyle Edwards and Thomas Tsalkitzis added 11 points each for Olivet.
Ajenai Gary tossed in 20 points for Glen Oaks, while Constantine graduate Tyler Shank added 16, Christian Oakley 12 and Melvin DeVeaux 10 for the Vikings.
Gary also had nine rebounds, three assists and one steal. DeVeaux had four rebounds and two steals. Shank contributed eight rebounds, three assists and two steals. Oakley added four boards, five assists and two steals. Noah Beegle, another Constantine graduate, had five rebounds, two assists and one steal to go with one point.
