Constantine grapplers off to 2-0 start

CONSTANTINE — Constantine’s wrestling team opened up the season Wednesday with wins over Lakeland, Ind. 42-30 and Kalamazoo Loy Norrix 37-24.
Against Lakeland, Constantine got forfeit wins from Devyn Begley at 112 pounds, Gracie Plank (119), Zach Harrison (130), Jack Jones (140) and Tamarra Marietta (145).
Winning by pin for the Falcons were Noah Harrison (125) and Roy Solis (152).
Corey Anthony (135) of Constantine dropped a tough 4-3 decision against Lakeland.
Losing by pin for Constantine against Lakeland were Jacob Shoesmith (160), Dakota Anthony (171), Larry Bryie (215) and Matthew Hutton (285).
Losing by a 9-7 decision from Constantine was Matt Morey (189).
Winning matches for Constantine over Loy Norrix were Begley (pin), Noah Harrison (decision), Zach Harrison (pin), Jones (forfeit), Corey Anthony (forfeit), Solis (pin), Dakota Anthony (pin), Morey (pin), Hutton (pin) and Plank (forfeit).
 
Mendon ends P-N Quad 1-1
PORTAGE — The Mendon wrestling team opened its season Wednesday splitting a pair of matches in the Portage Northern Quad.
Mendon beat Coloma 50-30 and lost to Portage Northern 42-36.
Wyatt Diekman (125), Skyler Crespo (130) and Emmett Bingaman (215, 285) all won two matches apiece.
Nik Andaverde (112), Kaden Frye (152) and Wyatt Cool (160) were all undefeated on the night for Mendon as well.
Earning one win each for Mendon were Kody Drewer (135), Justin Mathews (171) and Mikki Feister (189).
