Oct. 30, 1942 – July 7, 2018
Tattooed upon the forearm of this old man was a bent spike framed with the words “Force of Nature.” A reference to a lifetime ago a time of amazing feats of strength, of world championships in powerlifting, training new strongmen, and the outdoors. All done with a passion that is so rare in this world. A passion he gladly shared. A few hours in his presence would change you. Don did many things in his life and lived in a manner of his choosing, he loved, he taught, he lived all with passion. He knew all men must die but that not all can say they truly lived, Don Larkin lived. Don was preceded in death by his loving parents Donald and Phyllis Larkin, and his son Todd. He leaves behind his wife, Jerri Larkin and children: Rex (Shelley) Larkin, Charlie Larkin, Christi (Brian) Young, Sunny (Mike) Mercie, John (Jeannette) Matthies, Bryan (Kristan) Mattheis and loved grandchildren: Kylie Larkin and Lexi Karagiannis, Amber, Maddie, Theresa Larkin, Greyson and Gunner Young, Ryan, Cole and Evan Mercie, and William Mattheis. Also surviving are his loving pets: Oz, Gus and Zip.
To honor Don’s wishes a Celebration of Life will be held at Larkin’s Gym on Saturday, July 28, from 11 a.m.-3 p.m.
