Police searching for suspect in Mottville Twp. hit-and-run

MOTTVILLE TWP. — St. Joseph County sheriff’s deputies are asking for help finding a suspect in a hit-and-run incident in Mottville Township Thursday morning.

According to the St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Department, the incident occurred at around 5:35 a.m. on U.S. 12 near Riverside Drive, when police were called for an injured pedestrian in the roadway. Police say the pedestrian, a 33-year-old White Pigeon man, appeared to be struck by a passenger car headed eastbound on U.S. 12, who then left the scene. The man was transported for medical treatment with life-threatening injuries.

Police say they are searching for a gray 2000-2005 Cadillac Deville, with damage to the front bumper/grille/hood area. Deputies were assisted at the scene by Lifecare Ambulance, the White Pigeon Fire Department, West Michigan Aircare, the Michigan State Police, and MDOT.
