Sturgis man charged with open murder
CENTREVILLE — Jonathan Fleming, 37, of Sturgis, was arraigned Monday in St. Joseph County District Court in the case of a stabbing that led to the death of 39-year-old Christopher Calhoun of Sturgis.
Fleming has been charged with open murder and his bond has been set at $500,000 cash. He will have a pre-exam conference on Oct. 11 at 9 a.m.
Fleming was arrested after allegedly stabbing Calhoun multiple times inside Fleming’s residence on Sunday morning. St. Joseph County Prosecutor John McDonough said the victim’s autopsy was conducted at Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo but the cause of the death hasn’t officially been determined and the results of a toxicology report were not available at the time of the interview.
