TR woman apprehended for passing counterfeit currency

THREE RIVERS — The Three Rivers Police Department Tuesday arrested a 36-year-old Three Rivers woman who was wanted on an outstanding felony warrant for passing counterfeit U.S. currency.
Officers learned that a female wanted on a fraud warrant was at the Shell gas station on South Main. An officer responded and found the suspect inside the store.
The woman was arrested and transported to the Three Rivers Police Department for processing. Approximately 20 minutes into the booking process, the woman became irate and refused to cooperate any further.
When an officer attempted to handcuff the woman, she responded by assaulting the officer. According to the TRPD, she refused to follow instructions and punched the officer approximately six times.
The woman was secured in cuffs without injuries and then transported directly to the St. Joseph County Jail, where she was lodged without bond at the time of the arrest.
In addition to being charged with passing counterfeit U.S. currency, the woman is being charged with assaulting a police officer, resisting an officer and failure to comply with booking.
