Will tuition come down
To the editor:
When I received a letter from Glen Oaks Community College explaining how you should vote for a new milage to repair the college, I have to question where the money came from to build the new dorm. The letter stated the college received a grant for one and a half million dollars from the State of Michigan to maintain the college. If the milage is approved will the county taxpayers see a decrease in the price of tuition having the college getting help from the state to maintain the building?
One of the trustees is also a St. Joseph County Road Commissioner. Knowing the road tax is increased by .07 cents a gallon with the money being used for investments to make interest, what will stop the college from investing the milage money to draw interest? Until we find out exactly how the money is going to be used please vote no for the milage.
